The Running Route:-
1) Parking is limited in Leylodge Schoolhouse itself. If full please park
in the road where the run starts, adjacent the post and wire fence.
2) Bear left at the fork in the road. Right goes up a paved road to Tillybin
Steadings.
3) Climb metal gate. Aim for middle of forest across and up large field.
You can just make out a gate.
4) Go under wire and join grassy track heading downwards to the right.
5) Cross old wooden gate. Bear 2nd left – down a grassy track past
some wooden poles to the right.
6) At crossroads, turn left for a 6 mile run. Follow the track all the way
to the road and then rejoin the main run route. Bear left at the one fork
after the wood / gate.
7) When you reach the single house to your left there is a stile you can
cross over onto a track. Or continue on the field until you reach the gate
and join same track.
8) Upon entering the Fraser Castle grounds, for the 8 mile route turn right
past a gate and through a forest wood. Alternatively go straight on and bear
left for a 7 mile route.
9) Turn left into Castle Fraser main entrance and follow bendy road to castle.
10) When you reach the Castle, follow road to the right. Don’t take
the first turning but keep going round the castle. The road turns back into
a single track (often past some parked cars). Follow this.
11) After some while there is a natural spring drinking fountain in the undergrowth
to the left of the track.
12) Turn left at the road marked “Glack Farm”. Follow this bendy
road/track all the way back to the start.
13) For those with energy to spare, at the phone pole past Lauchentilly Farm,
this marks the one mile point back to Leylodge Schoolhouse. It is on the
whole a gentle descent and good for those wanting to finish on a fast mile!
