How to Get there:-
From Inverurie head out the A96 to Insch, turning off at the Oyne fork
onto the B9002. Pass though Oyne & Insch - follow the mountain
cycle route signposts; this should take you up past Dunnydeeer Hill and along
the hilltop road directly to the Gartly Moor car park on the left hand side.

The Running Route:-
Red Route (5.1m approx):
Completely off-road, this route is clearly signposted round the moor as the
red route. From the car park head off uphill in a northern direction; after
200 or so you will get a great view of the nearby windfarm. Follow the path
round the hill; there is a sharp uphill 'jink' to the South before a nice
easy downhill section which offers fine views of the hills to the West.
Turn left at the path junction, climbing steadily as you pass the old dis-used
slate quarry (used to roof Balmoral castle aparently) The path rises some
more passing the turnoff to the transmitter, before the heading downwards
and some grand views of the Tap o' Noth. Turn sharp left heading back to
the car park, passing the pond (try not to squish any frogs on the
path). Finally, there's a wee hill back up to the car park.
